Leopard
Did you know that leopards are mentioned in the Bible?
In Isaiah, chapter 11, the prophet begins by writing about the coming Messiah and what His purpose will be here on earth. Then he shifts to a vision of the new earth to come. The Bible says,
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them”
Isaiah 11:6
Isn’t it awesome to think that someday all of the animals will be friends with each other? In heaven, there will be no more death . . . for ALL of God’s creatures.
Leopard Facts:
While the leopard may be a little smaller in size than other big cats, pound for pound (for it’s size) the leopard is the strongest. They have the ability to carry large, heavy prety into a tree. They will carry the prey up the tree to keep it from other predators/scavegers and so it can eat it calmly. Leopards also like to relax/rest in trees. For the most part they are solitary animals. The Amur leopard will hunt both day and night, the others prefer to hunt mostly at night.

Leopards vs. Jaguars
What is the difference between a Jaguar and a Leopard?
The leopard has an angular head where the jaguar’s larger head is rounder. The jaguar also has slightly smaller ears.
They live on separate continents! The jaguar lives in the America’s where the leopard is spread across Africa, Asia, Middle East locations.
The spots on a leopard’s fur are called “rosettes”– because they look a little like roses.
There are 9 sub-species of leopards (Panthera pardus).
The jaguar is a bulkier, stocky cat, slightly larger than the leopard.
The rosettes on the jaguar have a little spot in the middle and the pattern is less dense than the leopards.
Leopards (male) weigh 80 to 165 pounds (36-74kg). A jaguar will weigh 120-210 pounds (54-95kg).
Leopards kill their prey by attacking the neck. Jaguars will bite the skull. A jaguar can crush the shell of a turtle!
Leopards live between 12 and 17 years in the wild, and up to 23 years in captivity.
A Leopard mom will be very protective of her cub. The cubs are born blind, but when they do open their eyes–they are denim blue for the first few months.

A black panther is actually either a leopard or a jaguar with excess black pigments in fur color. They actually still have rosettes, but their fur is just darker.
