A Rock Pool or Tide Pools See Images are shallow pools of seawater that form on the rocky shore–they contain all sorts of cool life. While they may not be a part of the bigger ocean they are still awesome. Have fun making this rock pool of your own. Be creative. Even if you don’t have all the items you can improvise.

Supplies Needed:

  • Paper Plates
  • Glues (glue stick and elmers glue or wood glue works too)
  • Sand*
  • Template of rockpool creatures (download)
  • Packet of dried moss*
  • White printing paper
  • Blue and green paint & paintbrush
  • Color materials (crayons, markers, colored pencils, your preference)
  • Scissors
  • Sea shells*, small google eyes (optional)

(*Items can be found in craft stores, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and even some pet stores)

Directions:

  1. Paint your paper plate with blue or blue with green paint–(use the blue first, as it’s darker, and then do a cover coat of green.) Allow to dry. Hint: Use 2-3 paper plates stuck together to make your rock pool sturdier.
  2. Once dry, cover the edge of the plate with liquid (wood glue). Use your thumb to spread it evenly. 2B:Then sprinkle sea sand all the way around the edge. Let it sit for 5 minutes or so before you discard the excess sand.
  3. Use the liquid (wood glue) to glue the sea shells around the bottom of the plate, resting on the sand. Allow to dry.
  4. Then spread liquid glue (wood glue) evenly in between the shells and paste bits of dried moss until majority of the bottom is covered.
  5. Download and print the rock pool creatures template. Color in the creatures, cut them out and then glue them on the plate.
  6. Lastly, glue the googly eyes on the creatures.

IDEA: Create your own creatures and shells by drawing them on another piece of paper.
Get creative!

It doesn’t matter how small and insignificant we feel, Jesus knows where we are at and He loves each and every one of us. So you may feel small in your town, in your life, in your home–but remember God sees you. He knows you and He is always there to talk to. He loves you.

“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” – Luke 12:7
