A: Dear Ally,

The essence of the Christian life is faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 tells us that Christians should walk (live) by faith and not by sight (what we see and feel – our senses). Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes from hearing the word of God – the Bible. To put it very simply, we believe what God says. We trust what God says, even when we may not completely feel it or understand it.

The way we can know that Jesus is always with us is because He told us so. Hebrews 13:5 says “He has said ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.'” In Matthew 28:20 Jesus said “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

It is true that we can leave Him, but He will not leave us. There are times in life where our feelings will tell us (with the devil’s help) that Jesus isn’t with us, or that He won’t help us. It is especially during those times that we must trust in the words of Jesus Himself. He promised He would always be with me, and I believe Him. You can believe Him too! He loves you very much. Ask Him to help you to have faith in His promises.

Thanks for writing, and remember, there’s never been a better time to share Jesus!

Your friend, Pastor Howard
