A: Dear Addison,

Have you ever heard a preacher refer to the Church as ‘this ole ship Zion’ I know I have. Many of them are simply comparing the Church to a ship full of passengers but the Bible does not say that we are going to heaven in a flying boat.

There are also many books that paint pictures of little children in heaven floating on a cloud wearing a gown with a harp in their hands and they look so happy.

The truth is that the Bible tells us that we will go to heaven when Jesus returns again. He is returning for those people who love Him with all their heart. When he returns everyone will know about it because we will see and hear Him because it will be as bright as lightening and as loud as a trumpet. He will not land on the earth though but instead Christians who are alive at that time will be changed (1 Corinthians 15:52) and given immortality then we will float up to meet Him. Christians who died before He returned will be resurrected then changed and given immortality then they will float up to meet him also. In fact we will all go up together. Then He will take us to heaven. Isn’t that cool? I know that I’m looking forward to it with all my heart, are you?
